Replace
Commander |
5/26/2003
Robert,
I'm working on a database that contains cells with null entries. When I output the data as CSV, I need to replace "", with "-", because some of my database scripting doesn't like no entry at all (I could rewrite the code to get around the problem, but it would be a huge messaround.) I have written a batch file that goes through and uses your program to change the values. The beauty of your program is it takes thirty seconds, whereas Windows notepad takes at least an hour!
Thanks very much Bobby.
Regards,

I love your replace program. I have figured out the carriage return {cr} and line feed {lf} functions for the program, but if I have a
string that needs quotes, what do I use to have it output the quote marks in the file.
Thanks,

Because of this customer I added {qt}
to allow the search and replace of quoit symbols.

Me2Dos |
8/16/2002
Dear Bobby,
Thanks for the me2dos program. I've been using it for quite some time. I've had no problems with it. I was able to setup a RAMDRIVE, and it works fine. I recently installed a
defragmenter program. Now on boot up I'm seeing a couple of error messages. "Too many parameters" and "Bad command or file name". Can you figure that one out? Otherwise, it doesn't seem to affect anything.
Thanks in advance for any help. Michael
After follow-up to this message I got this in reply.
Hey Bobby,
.... I re-booted and everything is honky-dorie. It's working fine now.
Thanks for you help, and hope this may help solve future problems for any others using the program.

Dear Bobby,
thanks for taking the time to write and publish such a valuable utility.
There are times when I think it is good that Microsoft mucks up the OS development, it leaves room for the creative talents of so many programmers.
I haven't yet installed me2dos, but I hope it will be an unmitigated success
and I'll be able to send another happy e-mail. By the way, I get the impression you have done some development using PowerBasic, if so I would be
keen to know what you think of it, and what neat things you have done with
it.

After a follow-up to this message I got this in reply.
Dear Sir,
As with so many good intentions, they often get bogged down in the detail. What that means is that in the pre Christmas "fun" I've not yet gotten to that fantastic piece of software called me2dos. I'm very sorry sir and will attend to it as soon as I can, after all, who really needs to sleep (grin). Thanks for the follow up, are you this nice to everyone?

CueCat
Information |
5/30/2003
Hi there,
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to so well document the CueCat output stream (http://bobby.mydis.org/cuecat/decode2.htm).
I have this "psudo" code to develop a decoder in Borland C++Builder and went on to code a neat DVD information
retrieval application for documenting my small DVD collection.

Hey,
Thanks for the step by step decoding of the cuecat. It was very helpful. I have made a decoder in delph pascal and kylix for linux. I would like to suggest that on page
http://bobby.mydis.org/cuecat/decode2.htm
After step 28 you need to add "If step 28 is larger then 128 then subtract 128"
That's it.
Thanks Again. |
